Photo Hunt - In Memory

The Photo Hunt theme this week is "In Memory." Wow! This is a tough theme for Mother's Day weekend, so we want to send special purrs to all of our bean friends who no longer have their mother with them.

The picture below is of my "sister before me", Muff. Muff was my mom's very first kitty and she got her when she was in her 20s. Muff taught my mom to love kitties and lived to be 19 years old. Muff went to the bridge 6 months after I came to live with my mom and 1 month before my mom's divorce (after 21 years of marriage).

The picture below is of my mom and her grandfather bean, Roy Gregg, or PaPa. My mom was the oldest grandchild and PaPa always told her, "You are my #1 grandchild." PaPa was a Baptist preacher and lived to the ripe age of 98 years and 11 months. PaPa went to the bean bridge two years ago on Good Friday and my mom sang three songs (Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross, How Great Thou Art) at his memorial service. She said that was one of the hardest things she ever did.

I hope all of you have a wonderful day and get extra hugs and kisses from your beans.

We loved the pics. They made us feel a little sad too. Muff was gorjuss and it musta been so hard to lose her at a difficult time of life (divorce) - just when your Mom woulda needed comfort the most. It must have felt like her world was falling apart. {{{{purrs for such past sadness}}}
Mom shed a little tear too over "Papa". She said she understands that speshull bond because her beloved grandad died on December 10th 2008 aged 100 years and 4 months old. She adored him and cared and looked out for him - she was with him when he went to the bridge - holding his hand so he wasn't afraid. She was his favourite too and she misses him badly. So Mom sends her (((((hugs))) too.

Such lovely memory photos.Thank you for sharing.

Muff looks so soft and silky. At least you got to know her before she had to leave, Praline. What a nice memorial!

That's a lovely tribute, Praline. Our Mama's Daddy was a Baptist preacher, so two of those hymns were part of his funeral, too. Our Mama even has The Old Rugged Cross and How Great Thou Art, on her iPod!

Miss Praline what a beautiful post:)))
And your momma was very very brave and strong to have been able to sing at his memorial service.. my momma couldn't even read the things that she had written out for her momma and dadda, she had to get the minister to...
We loves memory days.. we loves to think of the special things as you have a smile :))
