Thankful Thursday

I'm thankful that mom doesn't mind if I make a mess on the living room carpet.  She says as long as I eat something, she is happy.  Besides, she can always use the Kirby monster to clean it up.

Mom Paula:  Praline is getting more and more finicky.  You will notice some treats mixed in with her food to encourage her to eat more.  She will turn up her nose at the food, but still gobbles down the treats!  If she doesn't start eating more, I may need to put aside some funds to get her to the "vet".  Keep your paws crossed!

Oh Praline! I hope you start eating. I know I too have been finicky. I hope it is not a long haired cat thing we both have.

My human gets upset when I don't like my dinner either, which happens pretty frequently. Why won't the humans just give us what we want: treats 24-7? I don't get it.

We've had trouble in years past with our long haired cats not eating, usually it an age thing. Always managed to correct it with proper foods though.

I do hope little Praline does start back with her regular eating habits.

Praline, Tell that people of yours to mix a little yoghurt in with your foods. It's yummy stuff! The human says she knows of lots of peoples who offer it to new mummycats. Normally, when kittens are born, mummycat has enough nutrition to keep her going for a few days, so she will only leave the nest to go to the box. She won't eat anything, no matter how hungry and thin she gets with all the babies suckling from her. Peoples give youghurt, and in many cases, mummycats will eat that when they won't touch anything else. Maybe your people could try that? Also, sometimes having your stinky goodness pureed can make a difference. When I was really sick and didn't want any kind of foods, even tuna, my human got me something beautiful. It's the wet food version called Royal Canin Sensitivity Control, and it's chicken and rice made all mushy so that it's really easy to get down. Praline, it smelled so good that, even though I didn't want any foods, I had to eat all of this stuff!

Praline, you look like you're enjoying that food!! A little mess never hurts!!

We know that when we get older we get more finicky about foods. And we don't seem to eat as much. We hope you continue to eat some so you don't worry your mom.

Paws--and fingers--crossed Praline will EAT more. The mom understands, with picky nibbler Annie, whose appetite ebbs and wanes, making it really hard to get the meds into her.

At worst, you might have to go the route of an appetite stimulant in the short term, assuming nothing else is wrong.

Hannah and Lucy are finicky eaters too but their moods change -- sometimes something is good and another day it isn't even sniffed.
I put it down to them wanting more attention (as if they aren't getting any!!)
Have you tried giving her a dry food if she likes her treats - I get Royal Canin sensitivity control - blue whiting and rice - dry food - they will eat that when they don't want wet food but don't like it for every meal which means it's like running a restaurant here!!

Sweet Praline you need to eat your good foods as well as your treats. We think you'll get more treats if you eat more good foods with them.

My boy cats did not liked canned food all that much. If they got it once in a while, they ate it up, but if they got in a few days in a row, they walked away from it. Maybe that's happening to Miss Praline.

You look like you are enjoying that Praline, but try to eat a bit more. I make a mess when I eat too because I eat off my paw then flick the Stinky Goodness on the fridge door.

The Big Thing has a trick that gets us evry time. If we dont eat, he puts one treat by the bowl. We will ALWAYS eat THAT! Momentum usually takes over then...
