Not a Happy Camper

I still love the taste of my Blue Buffalo stinky goodness, but last night after using my litter box appropriately, I went outside of the litter box on a piece of mom's clothing.  I didn't have diarrhea, but but the stool wasn't normal like usual.  Mom fears that the new food may be too rich for my delicate tummy.

Mom was on the phone with the vet and the company yesterday.  The vet suggested I try a less "rich" food while the company claimed this sometimes happened and that I would be fine.  Mom then spent over an hour at PetSmart talking with several different employees (all who had cats).  Mom decided to try some less "rich" foods with the following result:

As you can see, after putting some on a plate, she gave up and then started just getting some on her finger for me to try.  I would smell it, back up, and then just stare at her.  I still like the new food she brought home on Wednesday.  Mom thinks that maybe I could eat a little less of the "rich" food and then maybe my tummy wouldn't get upset.

This is what I like!

Pee ess - for those of you who may be worried that I will starve, I do eat my dry food and it is high quality:  Royal Canin Persian 30 and I do drink my water.  The vet just recommended that I also eat some canned food each day to make sure I have plenty of water.

Praline--I hope you start feeling better. What was the consistency of the food you did like? Maybe they can find something similar. Sometimes it's as much about mouth feel as taste... Just a thought.

I've heard that the Blue Buffalo does not agree with some kitties, although Binga and Boodie handle it just fine when my human buys it. But yeah, you sound almost as finicky as me, except I don't even like the Wellness Core we get around here that much. At least you're eating!

It can be hard to find just the right food for us! Nicki has a problem with very rich foods too, so we all get a variety of brands, plus a bit of dry. Not all our food is grain-free, but it's all corn/soy/wheat-free.

Good luck!

Change -- not always easy is it, my friend?

We bet that a fresh tuna would't upset your tummy...

Maybe it is the change in diet rather than that specific food that is causing the problem. Can your mum get hold of any of your old food anywhere and mix the new food with it so you can change over gradually?

We hope you find one you like sweetie!

It's ok to be fussy Praline. Hold out for what you want. Maybe if mom just gave you small amounts of the food you love so it's not so much at one time?

Praline,
Your poor lil' tummy. We hope it gets better after a few days of the new food. We had some real "stinky experiences" when Mommy switched us from kibble to canned. It took a week or so for our guts to adjust.
WTG on the finicky front!

HI sweet Praline,
We are stopping by from the Pet Bloggers Hop sometimes it takes a few days for our little tummies to adjust to a new food especially if it has probiotics in it and the old one didn't. We are now eating The Honest Kitchen Food and we like it a lot. You need to get it at a special store because Petco and Petsmart don't carry it. Hope your tummy feels better.

What I have always heard is that a change in diet may cause some digestive problems at first. It just takes a while for your system to adjust. I think your Mom should stick with the good stuff you like and hopefully everything will be fine.

Actually, it's the same for humans if we have a big change in diet.

we have always heard that kitty tummys can be so sensitive to change and that it might take a few days to a week to adjust. we hope you get to keep eating the blue buffalo food. we like their dry for indoor cats. but we eat avoderm tuna and crab for our wet food.

Oh Sweet Praline, sorry to hear your mom is having such a hard time getting your "stinky goodness" regulated.

Maybe you ate too much at one time.

I went to PetCo today and got your exact "stinky goodness" flavor for "The Boys." Haven't given it to them yet, though.

Good luck with figuring it all out.

Tell yer Mom ta get some Nutri-Vet Probiotics. We like our canned food better when that is mixed into it.

Sweet P, a cat wants what she wants, and she should have it. (Just not so much that she doesn't feel good.) Hoping you get as much good stuff as you want.
