Memory Lane - Nip Cigar Video

Last night was one week since I helped my Sweet Praline cross the bridge.  I've had good days and bad days, but actually thought I was starting to heal.  However, out of the blue last night, I just starting sobbing, so I went to my videos of Praline and ran across this one that made me laugh.  I don't think I ever shared it with you, but she just loved a fresh, nip cigar!  Just watch her attack it!

I am working on a special project to share with all of you, but I just can't do it yet.  My former mother-in-law passed away this weekend and the family asked me to sing at her funeral, even though I've been divorced for 16 years.  I was practicing with the pianist Monday and I was doing fine singing the songs for her funeral (today).  Then I pulled out the song I want to record for a special video project I'm working on to share with the CB and in the second line of the song, I lost it.  The pianist just looked at me and said, "You're not ready for this one yet."  The song is "Smile" from Charlie Chaplin.  I'm trying to put together a slide show of all of Praline's funny faces and outtakes and wanted to record "Smile" in the background, but I'm just not ready yet.  My emotions are still too raw!  However, this video made me laugh out loud, so I hope you enjoy it.

That is so sweet! The Woman is so upset that she missed your call. She's been wanting a new cell phone for awhile and this may be it--no matter what she sets the ringer on you can hardly ever hear it so unless she is expecting the call she doesn't know it rang. She sent you the home number which is better for evenings--that way SOMEONE will hear it and if she is away from the phone, the Male actually knows how to work it. We are thinking about you as this has got to be so difficult-

That IS a fun video! But yeah, it is still VERY early - be kind to yourself and don't worry about how long it takes to heal, or sudden periods of sadness. It is all part of the process. Purrs to you.

Oh, that was so funny, made our mom laugh out loud! Great!

Mom Kim here: You know, it takes a long time--or can--even when you know it was time and the decision was the right one. Grief has its own time...I've looped through all the stages over and over and over again, and even 76 days later, I still get upset, still have the occasional bout of gut-wrenching sobs. I know you'll be fine, in time, but please don't expect yourself to process this so quickly, even though you knew it was coming.

(((Hugs))) and Light.

You wouldn't be human if you didn't cry for your darling Sweet Praline - she was a sweet lady.

I loved seeing that sweet baby playing with her nip cigar and her tail, that beautiful plume, waving.

It took me 5 years to not have tears thinking of Robin's last weeks. But there are only good memories now. You love Praline so much and healing will take time. xoxoxox

That video was very funny. She did love that nip cigar. It is the most favorite around here. I think Sparkle said it so right. Be good to yourself. It takes a long time to heal but you will. We love seeing memories of Praline. Take care. Big hugs.

Well, that Sweet Praline sure has some good foot action going on there. What a cutie she was.

And Mom Paula, I'm sorry you're still feeling a bit blue. But goodness, having a recent death in the family as well as losing Sweet Praline--no wonder!

We're thinking about you.

Praline was having such fun with her new cigar, wasn't she?! Clarissa doesn't like nip at all, but some of the kitties just love the cigars.

Paula, take the time you need to grieve for Praline. I still have moments when tears come for Colin. (((HUGS)))

Take all the time you need - there is no limitation on how we each recover from loss. And then to add on another loss has to be even harder. We is purrin' for you and want to send you some Ivy kisses - she is an awesome kisser!!

We know that there will continue to be good and bad days with so many memories flooding back. Grief is not a linear journey. You'll be fine and then out of the blue something will trigger a memory. Thank you for sharing this happy moment of Praline's with all of us, she clearly loved that nip cigar.

Mom Paula - I can truthfully say that I know what you are going through. When Skeeter had to be helped over the Bridge, I cried. As I drove home with him, I had to pull off the road every 1/2 mile to clear my eyes of tears. I cried at home.

I cried as I dug a burial spot for him, as I put him in it, and as I filled the hole. I cried afterwards.

When I constructed the simple wooden box to put over his spot, I cried. When I received the brass letters to put on the box, I cried. When I put the resin cat statue on the box, I cried.

It is good to cry for a cat-friend.

It is even good to re-read the messages of sympathy and sadness that Praline's friends sent and cry reading them.

Cry and remember your dear friend. It's OK. Allow yourself the tears. Allow it for as long as necessary. For years. I still cry for Skeeter sometimes after 2 years. And everytime another kitty leaves for the Bridge.

I wish peace and calm to you, but I know you are not ready for it. I dream sometimes that Skeeter is back with me. I suspect you have that kind of dream about Praline.

Peace dear Mom Paula, dream well and remember your dear friend as I do mine. Dream of the good times, and cry when ever you feel a need to.

That was so cute. She really loved her nip. What a wonderful life she had!
We knows how those sobs come out of nowhere. Something triggers, and your lost, all over again. We can imagine how that song would be a big trigger.

Such an adorable video of your lovely girl=she's having so much fun playing with you and her nip cigar (love her bunnykicking and bitey moves!)...Grief is such a strange emotion, attacking through all your senses, a sudden memory brought on through sight, smell, touch, sound and it grabs us sometimes when we least expect it; even after almost 7 years, I still get emotional over certain thoughts of my Nikki=time makes it better for sure, but I don't think that kind of deep sorrow, along with our deep joy and gratitude over having them in our lives ever really leaves us..."The sorrow now is part of the joy then"=somehow they become one, bitter and sweet all at the same time...Wishing you comfort as you navigate through these sad days and find a place in your soul where her memory conjures us more joy than sadness=hang in there, Paula...love and hugs...J
