Not So Easy Sunday

It's been a rough weekend for both me and my mom. Mom had a scope down her throat on Friday. The doctor said everything looked okay and to just double her medicine and call him back on Monday. I began getting sick on Thursday and as my friend Goma says, I had "stinky butt".

Mom took me back to the Vet yesterday.

Again!!!!!!!

This time Mom took me to the vet's office on the other side of town and I fussed at her the whole way there and the whole way back. My temperature was normal and she said everything felt right, but she suggested to my mom that she should do some additional tests. Mom said okay (with a fluttering in her stomach). The vet stole some of my blood, my urine, and my floof! She also gave me some new antibiotics that she said were designed for digestive problems. Mom won't get the results of the tests until Monday and the vet said I should start feeling better in two days.
If you will look above me, you will see some kitties in their condos.

Mom is really watching me like a hawk. She has put a bowl of water and my stinky goodness in the living room so she can watch my intake. I've been eating really well and drinking my water. I went to the litter box less yesterday than the previous day, but it was still messy.
Look closely and you will see how much I enjoyed my stinky goodness.

I am staying close to my mom this weekend. She is giving me lots of scritches and belly rubs.

The vet stole some of my floof. She said it was a santi-clip, but I think she just wanted some for a souvenir OR maybe she is going to try and sell it on EBay!

Please keep those purrs and purrayers coming that this is just a result of stress!

The Vet Again!!!!

Update from Mom Paula: I took Praline to the vet this morning. Her temperature was normal and everything else looked normal. The vet took some blood and will do a full round of tests on her blood and she took some samples of urine. She gave Praline some more antibiotics that are designed for the digestive track. Praline also got a little "sanitary trim". Unfortunately, I won't know anything until Monday. Please keep her in your purrs and purrayers that it's just a result of the medicine she was on two weeks ago and the stress from being boarded last week.

Mom is taking me back to the vet this morning. I've had diarrhea for two days. I am eating good and drinking water, but mom is concerned. I will update you after the visit.

Finally Friday

For a short week, this sure has been a long week. Did you know that a laptop is great for warming the belly? Of course, it is difficult to visit my furriends when I lie on top of it like this.

Pee ess - For some reason, Mom is swallowing a scope today. I think my feistiness may have given her heartburn. So sorry Mom - you shouldn't have left me at the Vet last week.

Toesie and Tummy Tuesday

I'm getting lots of tummy rubs since mom has been back home.

Don't stop, Mom! That feels good.

Memorial Day 2009

Today is Memorial Day in the United States. Today, we remember those that have given their lives for our freedom.

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 25 in 2009). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.

Easy Like Sunday

I'm home getting belly rubs from my mom! I'm contented!

I'm Home!!!!!

I'm finally home! Mom picked me up around 10:30 and I fussed at her all the way home in the car. Ever since I've been home, I have investigated every nook and cranny in the house to make sure it is still my home. I've ignored Mom most of the day and have been sitting in front of my special window in Mom's office. I finally gave her a purr about an hour ago and have been meowing for treats. I think I've made my mom suffer long enough.

Maybe, we can finally start visiting our furriends again.

Pee ess - it took mom over 9 hours to get home yesterday.

Pee ess ess - mom has to have a "scope" put down her throat on Friday. It just doesn't get any easier for her, does it?

Mom Paula: Praline has alternated between fussing at me and ignoring me all afternoon. I think she's glad to be home.

Happy Birthday, ML

Happy Birthday, ML. Thank you for all that you do for the CB and for what you have done for me.

Fiesty Friday

Mom called the Vet yesterday afternoon to check on me and they told her that I was being FIESTY! They said this was good and normal. I've been alert and moving around, but I haven't let them brush me (mom is dreading the possible mats!). The vet techs said I was only eating a little bit. While mom was trying to explain about my finickiness, the vet tech said to hold on a minute. She came back on the phone and said one of the vet techs put some of the food on her finger and I was eating from her fingers. Mom just laughed! She told the vet techs, "well, Praline has finally trained you." The vet techs told my mom not to worry, that I was doing fine and that this was normal for kitties. She also reminded my mom that the vets were close by and they would definitely take care of me if there were any problems.

Please purr for my mom today. She tried to get an earlier flight home so she could pick me up tomorrow instead of Sunday and the airlines wanted to charge her an additional $800. My mom has chosen to rent a car and drive the 8 1/2 hours home to South Carolina from Kentucky. I should be home tomorrow! Yay! I've been plotting my revenge all week, so watch out Mom!

Not a Happy Camper

I am not a happy camper! I don't know why my Mom left me in this strange place. The smells are different and everything looks different. I have resorted to hissing at my caretakers because they aren't my mom!

Here are some pictures of my kitty condo at the vet's office. The description on their web site says,

We are very proud of our boarding facility, which was designed specifically for cats. Our boarding cages are custom made, providing more comfort than cold, noisy stainless steel. They are spacious with a separate "room" for the litterbox, a shelf for your cat to jump up on and a view to the outside where we have bird feeders hanging. We are glad to accomodate special needs cats and have heated cages available for our geriatric boarders. We purposely do not have cages facing each other, as cats are often uncomfortable looking at other cats.

This kitty looks happy!

Not ME!

Wordless Wednesday (Almost)

Update from Mom Paula: Praline is not a happy camper! I called the Vet's office this afternoon. They said she is eating and drinking water a "little" bit and using the litter box, but she won't let them brush/comb her and she hisses at them when they walk by. Of course, I feel really guilty! The Terminix guy also says he sees "no signs of fleas," but he treated the house. My poor little baby!

Well, I'm on vacation (that is how I've chosen to view this stay at the VET) and doing okay so far. Mom called yesterday afternoon to check on me and they said that I am doing fine. Mom will get more details today and update you.

Pee ess - I'm not really trapped in my PTU, I am in a nice lttle suite. Maybe mom can get some pictures on Saturday.

5.19.2009

Toesie Tuesday

I think I need to sharpen my claws before I go to stay at the Vet's office this week just in case they don't give me enough treats.

Mom has packed my treats, stinky goodness, crunchies, medicine, and my pink boa from Ginger Jasper. This will be my first time away from home in 13 years, so wish me luck.

Mom says she will check with the vet each day and try to give you an update on how we are both doing. The flea exterminator comes on Wednesday and my grandma bean is going to come back over and open up the house and vacuum! Mom won't be back home until late Friday and she will pick me up on Saturday.

Happy Birthday, Auntie Deb!

5.18.2009

Movie Monday

I wanted to show all of you that I am feeling a little better. Mom says I am getting that sparkle back in my eyes. All I know is that I want all of my treats again.

5.17.2009

Easy Like Sunday

I'm taking it easy on the footrest of Mom's sofa. I am feeling better and want to thank all of you for your special purrs.

Photo Hunt - Painted

I think Mom must still be asleep and dreaming when she came up with this "painted" theme.

Come on, Mom! I'm dizzy!

Seriously, I'm helping mom clean up the house today so it can get rid of the fleas while she is gone this week. I think mom has decided that it will be best for both of us if I stay at the Vet while she is away. This will be the first time I've stayed away from home, so keep me in your purrs. I am feeling much better today, but still have several days to pills to take.

Okay, Mom! Christmas has been over for five months. Time to put this away.

5.15.2009

Flea Fever

I went back to the Vet yesterday and no wonder I was feeling poorly, I had a fever of 104.5. Mom knew I was feeling bad because I didn't fight her going into my PTU and I didn't meow the whole way to the Vet and back home. The Vet said I have something called Flea Fever and said I must have the flea treatment for several months. The Vet gave me something for my fever and I am feeling a little better. Mom has to travel out of town next week and she is worried about leaving me at home with either the pet sitter or her parents checking on me, so she will probably board me at the Vet's. This will be the first time she has ever boarded me anywhere, but she feels it is best for me (and for her peace of mind). Mom is also going to call Terminix to have them treat the house for fleas while she is gone.

Mom, I don't feel good!

Mom Paula: I knew Praline was sick Wednesday night. When I came home, she didn't meet me at the door (as she always does) and went through several rooms calling her name and not finding her. I finally found her in the litter box. I tried to give her treats and she spit them out. She just slept on top of the laptop computer all evening. When I got home Thursday afternoon (early to check on her), she came to the door, but just stopped and looked at me (no meowing, no purring). I checked the litter box and the poop wasn't normal either, so off to the Vet we went. Praline didn't fight me going in her PTU and she was totally quiet in the car (very unusual). I let her out in the Vet's office and she actually hissed at me when I went to pick her up. She NEVER hisses at me! At first the Vet was perplexed at her fever, but found some flea poop on her fur and said she had something called Flea Fever. She gave her something for her fever and an antibiotic for the bacteria from the fleas. I still don't see any fleas and don't know where she is getting them from. After the Vet examined Praline, Praline just rested her head against my chest, which is also unusual. I could feel the heat from her little head.

I had another meeting last night, but when I got home, Praline met me at the door and was meowing. She ate some treats and also some stinky goodness. I am still at odds whether I should board her at the Vet's while I am gone next week. If she continues to improve this weekend and the pet sitter will come over and show me that she can give Praline her medicine, I may leave her at home.

Tummy Trouble

Update from Mom Paula: I did take Praline to the Vet today and she was running a fever of 104.5. Her teeth were fine, there were no blockages, but the vet found evidence of "flea poop" again! What gives? She NEVER goes outside. Anyway, the Vet said she had something called "Flea Fever," which comes from a bacteria that fleas carry. She gave Praline some medicine for the fever (said she should be much better tomorrow morning), some antibiotics, and the Advantage Orange. The Vet said the diarrhea is probably a result of the fever. The bad thing is that I must travel to Louisville, Kentucky next week, so I am probably going to board her at the Vet's office so they can give her the medicine and watch her. Please keep her in your purrs!

I've had a little tummy ache the last two days. Mom is watching me close today to see how I am doing before she calls the vet. I'm eating good and drinking water, but I've just had a stinky litter box and a little loose stools. Of course, she just gave me some more of that Laxatone two days ago, too, so I don't know what she expects.

Mom has also been feeling poorly lately, too. We'll be around to visit when we are feeling better.

Toesie and Tummy Tuesday

Time for floofy toesies and belly again!

And a nap!

Stamp Out Paperwork

Mom, what are all of these papers doing here? I thought you said paperwork belonged at work and not at home. Your job at home is to pamper me!

Mom is home from work today because of a South Carolina state holiday. I'm going to just lie on top of these papers so she won't do any work while she is home today.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to my Mom bean, Paula! Thank you for taking such good care of me for over 13 years! I luv you, Mom!

Praline and Mom Paula

Mom Paula: I want to take this opportunity to say Happy Mother's Day to the two best mothers I know: My Mom, Faye and my sister, Dorenda. I am so proud of both of them and I love them dearly!

Photo Hunt - In Memory

The Photo Hunt theme this week is "In Memory." Wow! This is a tough theme for Mother's Day weekend, so we want to send special purrs to all of our bean friends who no longer have their mother with them.

The picture below is of my "sister before me", Muff. Muff was my mom's very first kitty and she got her when she was in her 20s. Muff taught my mom to love kitties and lived to be 19 years old. Muff went to the bridge 6 months after I came to live with my mom and 1 month before my mom's divorce (after 21 years of marriage).

The picture below is of my mom and her grandfather bean, Roy Gregg, or PaPa. My mom was the oldest grandchild and PaPa always told her, "You are my #1 grandchild." PaPa was a Baptist preacher and lived to the ripe age of 98 years and 11 months. PaPa went to the bean bridge two years ago on Good Friday and my mom sang three songs (Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross, How Great Thou Art) at his memorial service. She said that was one of the hardest things she ever did.

I hope all of you have a wonderful day and get extra hugs and kisses from your beans.

Feisty Friday

Mom says for an old lady cat, I've still got pretty quick reflexes. She was brushing me last night and pulled a mat just the wrong way and I swatted her! I don't usually do this. Mom says I was being FEISTY! I don't know what she means.

Unfortunately, for Mom, she hadn't clipped my claws yet, so I got her pretty good! This is just one scratch out of about five on her hand.

I'm sorry Mom. I didn't mean to hurt you.

Mom Paula - those nail are getting clipped right now!
She really doesn't do this and was very irritated. I just grabbed her and held her close to me, talking softly. She began purring and we were friends again. P.S. The nails are clipped!

T13 - May Flowers

April showers bring May flowers or so the saying goes. My mom does not have a green thumb but our flowers are beautiful this year, so I wanted to share the beauty I see outside my window. I can't go outside, but mom opens the blinds and I jump on top of my cool glass table to look outside.

1. I cheated. Some of these flowers were in bloom in April because of our warmer weather early in the South.

2. This is the Dogwood tree in our front yard outside of our picture window. This tree has recently been overshadowed by the Hickory Nut tree and lost some limbs in one of our rare ice storms about 6 years ago, but it is still such a pretty flower.

3. The picture above was right before one of our showers in April. See the dark clouds.

4. The Azaleas were in full bloom this year. Some of these Azaleas have been planted since the 80s when mom moved in this house and they just started blooming.

5. This is the fushia colored Azalea one of three that mom just planted last year. It is the only one that survived, but has a beautiful color.

6. This light pink azalea has been planted for several years. Mom can't remember if it has been since she moved back in the house 7 years ago or if it was when she (and the ex) moved in over 20 years ago.

7. The white Azaleas were planted by the former man in the house over 20 years ago.

8. Mom just loves Gerber Daisies. This is the only flower that she started planting a few years ago and it keeps coming back. These are the red ones near the house. We have some yellow ones out by the mailbox, but it was getting dark when mom took these pictures, so this is all could show you.

9. Mom planted the Irises about three years ago. They didn't bloom last year, but just burst into bloom this week.

10. This is a close up of the Iris. Mom and I just love this flower.

11. My grandma bean planted these Crawling Pansies just two weeks ago. Aren't they pretty?

12. Mom always buys red Geraniums every year to hang on our front porch. We usually have at least one bird nest each year in the basket and sometimes we even see Hummingbirds flying around them. Isn't this just a perfect Southern front porch?

13. Mom does not bring "live" plants indoors, but she does have a few silk flowers for me to enjoy.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of my front yard flowers.
